Rodney Miller of Blessed Brokenness

Rodney Miller, Esq., Board Chairman

Rodney graduated from Auburn University at Montgomery with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration before obtaining his juris doctorate from Cumberland School of Law. He currently practices law at Methvin Terrell, P.C. He is honored to have the opportunity to be in leadership within the CARRYWELL ministry, which has directly impacted his marriage for God’s glory.

Ben Wear of Blessed Brokenness

Ben Wear, Esq., Board Vice Chair

Ben graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accountancy and a Masters degree in Tax. He went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from Cumberland School of Law. He now owns and operates a concierge law firm that focuses on corporate law. Ben and his wife, Mallory, walked a season of infertility and now have two miracle children.

Mary Leah Miller of Blessed Brokenness

Mary Leah Miller, Esq., Board Secretary

Mary Leah Miller graduated from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History, then received her juris doctorate from Cumberland School of Law. As an attorney, her focused practice is in the area of automotive product liability litigation and the representation of individuals who have been catastrophically injured or killed. Through CARRYWELL, Mary Leah found purpose in her season of waiting and is honored to help support and encourage other women on their journeys.

Karen Hammond of Blessed Brokenness

Dr. Karen Hammond, CRNP-DN, Board Member

Dr. Karen Hammond is a board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She has worked in the field of reproductive endocrinology and infertility since 1985. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, she received her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees from the University of Alabama School of Nursing in Birmingham. She is nationally certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, as well as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Hammond is happily married to Dr. Nicholas Cataldo, a reproductive endocrinologist/epidemiologist. She is a member of South Highland Presbyterian Church.

Taylor Hart of Blessed Brokenness

Taylor Hart, CPFA, CFP®, Board Member

Taylor graduated from Samford University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business with a concentration in Finance. He joined Jackson Wealth Management of Merrill Lynch as an Associate and later became a Financial Advisor. There, he and his team help create custom financial planning strategies for clients all over the nation. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and was named to Forbes “Best-in-State Next Generation Wealth Advisor”, Forbes “Top 250 Next-Generation Wealth Advisors” 2019 and 2020, and Forbes “Best-in State Wealth Advisors” 2020. Taylor lives in Birmingham, AL with his wife, Jen, and two daughters, Rory and Ellis. 

Chinika Madris of Blessed Brokenness

Chinika Mardis, Board Member

Chinika Mardis graduated from Jacksonville State University with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and Wellness with a concentration in Sports Medicine. Having walked the journey of infertility, Chinika also has served as co-leader CARRYWELL Group and served in many of the CARRYWELL projects since its beginning. Chinika and her husband adopted their miracle baby boy and look forward to blessing others through the ministry of this organization.

Brooke Rebarchke of Blessed Brokenness

Brooke Rebarchak, Esq., Board Member

Brooke Rebarchak graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. After college, Brooke received her Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law and began her practice at Methvin Terrell, P.C. She serves as a board member of the Birmingham-Southern Young Alumni Council.

Blessed Brokenness Board Member Andrew Mills

Andrew Mills, Board Member

Andrew Mills received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Banking and Financial Services from the University of Alabama. A native of Huntsville, Andrew moved to Birmingham in 2009 and works as a Relationship Manager at Regions Bank. Having walked through infertility and loss, Andrew and his wife Lindsey Badham Mills have a deep compassion for couples walking through this valley. After a tragic accident that led to the passing of their daughter, Annie Louise (2018 -2019), Andrew felt called to be a part of CARRYWELL. While balancing infertility and miscarriages with grief, Andrew hopes his family’s story can bring comfort to others in their walk with Christ.

Blessed Brokenness Board Member Virginia Carter

Virginia Carter, Board Member

Virginia Hazelrig Carter graduated from The University of Alabama with a B.A. in Human Environmental Sciences. After college she worked several years in the risk management and private equity industry before becoming a mother.  She and her husband, Liles, live in Birmingham, AL with their one year old son, Liles, Jr.

Lindsey Mills, Board Member

Born and raised in Birmingham, Lindsey graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Nursing. Lindsey and her husband Andrew battled unexplained infertility and multiple miscarriages for years before finally giving birth to their precious Annie in 2018. In 2019, they lost their daughter in a tragic accident. Since then, Lindsey & Andrew have adopted their miracle baby girl Mallie and are expecting a baby boy.

Liz Casement, Board Member

Liz graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in art history at UAB. She and her husband, Mike, attend Christ Fellowship Church in Homewood and work together in real estate investment. Liz finds joy in homeschooling their 4 children,  2 of whom joined their family through foster care and adoption in 2017.

Kali Bennett, Board Member

Kali graduated from Samford McWhorter University with a doctorate in Pharmacy and a minor in Spanish.  She practiced 12 years as a community Pharmacist before stepping back to be a mom. In her season of waiting, God softened Kali‘s heart and altered her posture to reflect great hope and joy despite circumstances. She is honored to use her story of brokenness and restoration to encourage others as they navigate this valley. As Psalm 40 proclaims, God has brought her through the miry bog and given her a new song filled with deep compassion for those suffering. She desires to live out Jesus’ incarnate ministry through Carrywell– offering herself, her physical presence as the hands and feet of Christ. 

Lucy Poole, Board Member

Lucy grew up in Atlanta, GA and graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2010 with degrees in Human & Organizational Development and Spanish. She moved to Birmingham in 2012, married her husband Conyers, and now works as a recruiter for OnBoard Legal. In 2017, Lucy survived a rare and very fatal pregnancy complication called an amniotic fluid embolism with the birth of their first child. This complication had lasting physical effects, the most devastating of which was secondary infertility. Through grief, she leaned on Christ in a new way as the ultimate healer, comforter, and waymaker. She and Conyers husband welcomed a second child through a life-changing surrogacy journey in 2019. Lucy is passionate about connecting with others who experience both birth trauma and infertility.
